What are the benefits of elearning (self learn) courses  ?

For Individuals & Organisations
The current global pandemic of COVID-19 has shone a light on the need for online training and will act as a catalyst for revolutionising the educational industry.

For Individuals: Whether you are a student, working professional, unemployed worker or a corporation or government agency, it is during times of restrictions and recessions that the need for upskilling, re-training or further education becomes paramount.

For Organisations “working form home” is the “new normal”.

Utilizing the internet for improving an individuals skills is the ultimate way to climb up the success ladder and is the best investment that you can make for yourself or your organisation in preparing for the future.

Geographic reach
If you are an organisation with offices and staff in multiple locations or an individual who is on the go due to the nature of work, access to online is a real benefit
Flexibility
Todays faced paced personal and business environment we live in, leaves us with little time to focus on upskilling to meet our career growth (individual) or business requirements (corporations).

Online training courses can be taken anytime, anywhere. The only requirement is a reliable internet connection. Making time during your coffee breaks at work, sitting on your couch and taking online courses instead of watching television, and listening to audio/video files while travelling to and from work are some of the ways online training courses can be taken up. This ensures flexibility in terms of time and effort.

Mobility and Accessibility
With the proliferation of mobile phones, tablets, and laptops, online courses are not only restricted to desktops; our courses are configured for all types of devices.

Thinking of taking a course while travelling? eLearning is now literally in your pockets.

Cost effectiveness and Availability
Traditional classroom-based course requires physical copies of books, notes, and the physical presence of professors / trainers to deliver courses.

Through online training, courseware, reference materials and notes can be saved on your hard drive or “in the cloud” (eg: EZY Skills online learning platform) for easy access anytime anywhere and can be viewed multiple times without limit.

The cost of purchasing hardcopy and/or printing is greatly reduced.

Online courses are extremely cost-effective and can be utilized efficiently.

Practise and Information Retention
Classroom based, instructor-led training can force trainees to lose concentration and reduce learning on topics because of long lectures, where speech (supported by slides) is the major mode of communication.

Online courses on the other hand, help trainees retain and remember information with attractive images, videos, legible fonts, movie clips, animated descriptions, and more. Real-life examples are also given to explain concepts better. Displaying information in well-crafted ways lead to better understanding of learning content more than taking notes with pen and paper.

Another advantage is that learner / trainers can always come back and revisit course content at any time to improve information retention and knowledge.

Self paced Learning 24x7
As an online training provider, you can learn at your own pace and convenience. Courses are available at your fingertips 24×7. You can always re-visit the content anytime as you will have access for 180 days from your date of enrollment.

Can I contact an approved trainer if I have any questions on course content?
No. Due to the high volume of people taking our online courses, it’s not possible for us to answer questions from individual students of our online courses.

Our business model is based on eLearning / Self learning to provide with you the flexibility of being able to study anywhere, anytime on any device – without the need of a classroom-based instructor

Is a “Virtual Online Class” better than a “Self-Learn”, eLearning course?
A virtual class is just like a classroom-based course but done online. You are restricted by a certain course schedule and times. Interaction with the instructor may be restricted (microphones turned off) or limited in how frequently you can engage with the instructor.

The benefit of eLearning (refer to our eLearning benefits section above) is that you can learn at a time that is convenient to you, on any device, anywhere. Self-learning courses tend to provide more content and information that you can refer to or revise at any time. It provides you with the flexibility that is difficult to find with classroom-based or virtual training courses.

Does my course fee cover the reference manual associated with the course?
No. Many people would prefer to borrow the reference manual from a colleague, rather than buy their own copy. For those who do wish to have their own copy of a reference manual, we provide you with links to the publisher’s website. Usually, these publishers can deliver their manuals to you in a matter of days.
Which Project Management Course should I enroll in - PRINCE2 or AgilePM?
There is no ‘correct’ answer to this question, it depends on your environment and your projects. If you work with organisations that use one or the other, then enroll in the corresponding course.

If you need a project management method that you can use throughout your career on any type of project in any domain, then you should take our PRINCE2 courses.

If you need a light-weight method for use in an agile domain, then take our AgilePM courses. We will soon be offering online training in the agile extension to PRINCE2, called PRINCE2 Agile. PRINCE2 Agile assumes a reasonably detailed understanding of PRINCE2.

If you don’t have this background in PRINCE2, AgilePM would therefore be more useful to you. And it’s easy to use AgilePM in an organisation that uses PRINCE2 (our course will show you how).

Should I do the “Combined” Foundation & Practitioner course together or do them one at a time ?
For one, the combined Foundation and Practitioner course is significantly cheaper.

A Foundation course gives participants an understanding of the key concepts, whereas a Practitioner course ensures that participants can apply these concepts.

From an employer’s point of view, a Practitioner certificate is far more valuable.

Is the PMI’s PMBoK ‘better’ than PRINCE2 or AgilePM?
There is no ‘correct’ answer to this question; it depends on your environment and your projects.

PRINCE2 is the most robust of these methods. It is suitable for use with customer-led projects because of its guidance on governance and the use of the Business Case as the primary project control. PRINCE2 says that a successful project is one that delivers business value in the live environment; delivery of full scope on time and within budget is important but not the primary business concern. PRINCE2 expects that a project would comply with the sponsoring organisation’s HR and procurement approaches.

The PRINCE2 process model has two early steps (not present in the PMBoK’s process model) that ensure the project’s scope and approach are thoroughly investigated before expensive delivery planning commences, so organisations are much less likely to end up with runaway projects. PRINCE2 also features a rolling wave approach to planning, that significantly improves project success rates. PRINCE2 can also be used for supplier-led projects, with suitable tailoring.

The PMBoK is not useful for customer-led projects but is OK for supplier-led projects. The PMBoK says that a successful project is one that delivers full scope on time and budget. The PMBoK covers several areas not covered by PRINCE2, such as HR management and procurement. However, the PMBoK’s guidance on procurement is seriously out of date and does not reflect modern public sector procurement practices. This may be OK in a supplier-led project but is not acceptable in a customer-led project.
A wide variety of techniques are mentioned in both PRINCE2 and the PMBoK, but these techniques are not formally part of the method. Those taking PMP training must learn how to apply several of these techniques.

AgilePM is a light-weight project management method suitable for use in an agile environment, where teams are using agile product development techniques such as Scrum.

Why should I get certified in Change Management?
Almost all major projects these days result in some sort of organisational change, with impacts on individuals and the organisation. If these impacts are not carefully managed, the business objectives of these projects are unlikely to be met. Increasingly, organisations are seeing the value in carefully planning and managing these impacts in parallel with the technical aspects of the projects. This is the role of the “Change Manager”.

Our courses are aligned with the Change Management Body of Knowledge.

Why Should I get certified in Risk Management?
Risks are the “known uncertainties” that may impact on the ability of a project, programme or operational activity to meet its objectives as planned.

Getting a globally recognised certification in Risk Management will ensure you have the credentials required for managing risk within your organisation. It will enable you to design, implement and manage your organisations risk in an efficient and effective manner. An essential requirement for building a career in Risk Management.

Too many projects populate their project or porganisational Risk Register with poorly understood entries, but then don’t take any action to mitigate these risks; these projects are not managing their risks.

The role of a Risk Manager is to ensure that risks are actually managed, and mitigation strategies are in place to implement corrective actions for organisational and project risks. Reducing the  ‘surprises’ to the Business Sponsor or organisation.

Our courses are aligned with the ISO standard on risk management.

Why should I get certified in Better Business Cases (BBC)?
Whether you are an individual writing a Business Case for your project or for a new investment to be made by you or your organisation, having a proven successful methodology would ensure that funding could be be approved more readily vs a poorly written one. This course will provide you with the tools required to ensure you write a successful Business Case adressing all the criteria looked at by Business Sponsors or Investment Managers.

In many organisations, the Business Case is seen as simply being a funding acquisition tool, that is forgotten as soon as the budget is approved. These Business Cases do not fully explore potential options, nor do they consider the overall achievability of the initiative.

Better Business Cases (BBC) regards the Business Case an an initial and ongoing tool providing comprehensive high-quality information to support decision-making by the sponsoring organisation at every step.

BBC guidance represents the leading edge on thinking about business justification of proposed investments; it is based on the approach developed by the UK Treasury.

Common questions about examinations

Can I just pay for the training course now and pay for the exam later?
No. Our ATO licences with the Examination Institutes prevent us from offering training without exams. If you don’t need certification, you could simply read the relevant reference manual, but you wouldn’t benefit from the practical experience embedded in our courses.
Can I just do the training and not take the exam?
Once you’ve paid for a course (which includes the cost of a onetime exam) it’s up to you whether you in fact take the exam.

We highly recommend that you take your certification examination as it will provide you with globally recognised professional credentials that will help you in your career.

What are the costs of the examinations?
Examination costs vary based on the Region you live in. Prices for your exams are automatically calculated and are included in the cost of your course.
Can I book my exam directly with an examination institute?
Yes. The price you pay to EZY Skills includes the examination fee (that examination institutes charge you, however we make the examination bookings on your behalf).

Both examination institutes (People Cert and APMG) charge significantly more for exams booked directly by the candidate. For example: PeopleCert charge us AUD244 for a PRINCE2 Foundation exam, whereas PeopleCert would charge you AUD501 for the same exam if you booked it directly with them.

We highly recommend that you do not make examination bookings directly with an examination institute.

How do I book my exams?
After you pay for your course, which includes the examination fee, we will book your exams with the relevant examination institute after you email us at courses@ezyskills.com.au  to confirm that you are ready to take your exam .

The examination institute will then contact you directly to tell you:
– How to schedule your exams;
– What are their technical requirements for taking the online examination

Does EZY Skills offer paper-based exams?
No. EZY Skills only an online training academy. As a result, we offer only online examinations from the relevant examination institute
What are the technical requirements for me to take an online proctored exam?
PeopleCert’s technical requirements are published here .

PeopleCert require that you download their ExamShield software onto the device you will be using to take the exam. This may mean disabling some software (antivirus, virtualisation, etc).

APMG’s requirements are less onerous, and they don’t require download of software.

What happens if the examination institute does not contact me?
Both examination institutes contact candidates within a day of us booking your exams. If you haven’t heard from them, contact (email) us at courses@ezyskills.com.au  and quote your ‘exam id’ and advise that the examination institute has not contacted you.

The most usual cause of delay is an issue with an incorrect email address or redirection of the examination institute’s emails to your email software spam folder

How long is the exam booking valid?
Exam bookings are generally valid for 12 months.
If I don’t schedule an exam within the 12 month validity period of the exam booking, can I request an extension?
Yes, but the examination institute will charge a fee.

For example, PeopleCert, the fee is AUD36 to purchase a 6 months extension.

For APMG, the fee is AUD100.

These are indicative prices only.

If you don’t take action before the end of the validity period, you may have to pay the examination institute the full exam fee again.

Please email us at courses@ezyskills.com.au to check for prices as they vary by region and the fact that the Examination Institute may change their fees at any time.

Once I schedule an exam, can I reschedule it?
Yes. Just contact the examination institute directly and advise them of the new date and time you wish to take the exam.
Is there a fee if I reschedule an exam?
Yes, PeopleCert will charge you an additional fee of AUD36.

APMG will not charge a fee if you reschedule the exam more than 9 days before the exam, otherwise they will charge you AUD100. If you cancel or reschedule an exam within 9 days of the scheduled date, APMG will charge you the full exam fee again.

Before you contact an examination institute to schedule your online exam, please make sure that you can take the exam on that date.

We recommend that you take your exam as soon as possible after you finish the course.

Note the prices indicated above are for indicative purposes only. Please email us at courses@ezyskills.com.au  or the examination institute directly to confirm current pricing. These prices may vary by Region or changes by the examination institute.

How many times can I re-schedule my exam?
We are not aware of any limit on the number of times you can reschedule an exam with an examination institute.
What happens if I scheduled my exam and there was an emergency like an illness and cannot take it at that time?
Your exam fee will be forfeited to the examination institute, and you may have to pay for the exam again.
What are the exam terms and conditions?
Each examination institute will advise you of their terms and conditions when they contact you after we have booked your exam.
What are the exam pass rates?
Globally, pass rates are as follows:
– Foundation exams: over 95%;
– Practitioner exams: around 75-80%.
What are the examination pass rates from people who have taken your courses?
Canditates in our courses have consistently achieved much higher pass rates, due to the quality of our trainers and training materials. Our pass rates are around:
– Foundation exams: around 99%
– Practitioner exams: around 90%
Can you 'guarantee' that I will pass a certification exam?
No. Your success or otherwise is dependent on the effort you put into the course. Our courses are designed by world class practitioners with significant industry experience.

Our courseware is used by leading organisations globally. However, we are confident that if you devote the time required to “Learn Upskill Get Certified” you will have all the information required to pass the exam

How valuable is a 'Foundation exam pass guarantee' from an ATO?
It’s marketing spin, and almost worthless. Foundation exams pass rates are really high, and with a reasonable effort on your part, you will almost certainly pass a Foundation exam.
Is a certification gained through an ATO that 'guarantees passing the Practitioner exam' worthwhile?
No. The scheme owners set the difficulty level of the Practitioner exams much higher than for the Foundation exams, so that pass rates are expected to be much lower at Practitioner level.

Any ATO that guarantees Practitioner pass rates should be regarded with deep suspicion.

Employers will eventually become aware of such ATOs, probably after hiring people who were trained by these ATOs and finding that these people simply do not demonstrate the knowledge or competence that would be expected from the holder of a Practitioner certificate.

These employers will subsequently discount certificates acquired through these ATOs during the hiring process, and the holders of such certificates will have wasted the money they spent to acquire their certificates.

If an examination institute finds that the Practitioner exam pass rates of an ATO are suspiciously high, they will audit the ATO and potentially cancel their accreditations, which will possibly make certificates acquired through that ATO worthless.

Does the examination institute tell me the 'mark" I achieved in an exam?
Yes, they will provide you with an examiner’s report that will show your total mark, and your mark against each major syllabus topic, but not your mark for each question.

This will give you some general guidance on which aspects of the course you might need to review.

If I fail an exam, when can I resit that exam?
We would recommend that you review the examiner’s report you received after your first exam, identify the areas that you need to revise, then when you are confident, purchase the exam again.

Remember, you have access to your online course for 180 days.

Do I get a 'discount off the exam fee' if I take an exam for a second time?
No, the examination institute will charge the full exam fee for the second attempt.
If I pass the Foundation exam, is it likely I will pass the Practitioner exam?
While no guarantee can be given, if you receive more than around 65% of the marks available in a Foundation exam, in our experience it is highly likely that you will pass the associated Practitioner exam, provided you put in the effort required to prepare for the exam.

Conversely, if your mark in a Foundation exam is less than around 65%, we would suggest that you do not immediately attempt the Practitioner exam, without a lot more preparation.

Common questions after the exam

If I pass an exam, how will my certificate be delivered to me?

A successful candidate will be able to download their certificate from the relevant examination institute’s candidate registration system.

If I pass the Foundation exam but do not pass the Practitioner exam will I still receive a Foundation certificate?

Yes

If I passed both the Foundation exam and the Practitioner exam, will I receive a certificate for each?

If you make two separate bookings, one for the Foundation exam and a different booking for the Practitioner exam, then you will receive a certificate for each.

Where both exams were booked on the same booking, and you pass both exams, then you will only receive the Practitioner certificate.

If I do the training only, will I receive an 'Attendance Certificate'?

AXELOS has determined that ATOs can no longer issue Attendance Certificates for Axelos courses. ATOs are only able to provide a letter stating that a person attended a specific course.

It is still possible for ATOs to issue Attendance Certificates (if requested) for APMG courses.

Who issues certificates if I pass a Foundation or Practitioner course?

The examination institute associated with a course issues globally recognised certificates to successful candidates on behalf of the owner of the scheme for that course.

Can I find out if someone has passed a certification exam?

Each scheme owner maintains a Successful Candidates Register website. By default, all successful candidates will be listed in the Register, with the date on which they passed the certification exam.

However, some candidates decide to opt out of this arrangement, for example for security or privacy reasons.

If someone presents a certificate to an employer, but their name is not listed in the associated Register, an enquiry can be made to the scheme owner to confirm that the certificate is valid.
